Prof. Niranjan ‘Tex’ Kissoon, President of the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA), recently visited the World Sepsis Day Head Office in Berlin, Germany.
Together with the esteemed Founding President of the Alliance, Prof. Konrad Reinhart, GSA CEO Dr. Mariam Jashi, General Manager Marvin Zick, Regional Sepsis Alliance Coordinator Simone Mancini, and Communications Manager Katja Couball, the GSA President discussed strategically important policy, program, and operational aspects of the joint work.
The team discussed in detail the preparations for the upcoming 2024 World Sepsis Congress Spotlight "Unmet Need in Sepsis Diagnosis and Therapy" scheduled on April 23, which is expected to reach more than 10,000 participants from over 150 countries with cutting-edge evidence and knowledge in the field.
In addition, the team reviewed the strategic vision for further advancement of the GSA’s program and institutional capacities, outlining initiatives and goals for 2024 and beyond. The dialogue included the expansion of the organization’s outreach through individual memberships and prospects of greater support to the Regional Sepsis Alliances. Strategic partnership- and resource-mobilization directions have also been discussed including vis-à-vis policy advocacy, media and public awareness raising, research, and innovations. These discussions served as a foundation for the reinvigorated efforts of the GSA and its Regional Sepsis Alliances to further strengthen sepsis awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care efforts at the global and national levels.
One of the highlights of Tex's visit was recording a special video message for the audience and supporters of the World Sepsis Day movement and the GSA. In this message, Tex addresses the upcoming World Sepsis Congress Spotlight and emphasizes the importance of the theme "Unmet Need in Sepsis Diagnosis and Therapy".
President Kissoon in his video expresses his special gratitude for the continued support of the GSA's advocates, sepsis survivors, and patients’ families. He recognizes the unwavering dedication of each member of the GSA family involved in the fight against sepsis worldwide.
